Tom Walton is a highly acclaimed, award winning chef, restaurant entrepreneur
Tom Walton is an accomplished, award-winning Chef and Entrepreneur with a passion for fitness and wellbeing. His mission is to help influence the way we eat and buy produce by celebrating and supporting local growers, farmers, and producers.
Growing up in the Blue Mountains, from a young age, Tom was inspired by his Lebanese neighbour, an adopted grandmother, who introduced him to the world of Middle Eastern cooking and flavours that are represented in so much of his food today. His youth was spent with her in the garden and kitchen – planting, foraging, and cooking.
Tom started his apprenticeship at age 17, working in the then 2 hatted, Blue Mountains restaurant – Darley’s. In 2005 he represented Australia in Finland at the WorldSkills International competition for cooking – taking 3rd place in the world against 24 countries.
After many years in kitchens throughout Sydney, Tom’s interests grew beyond the kitchen, he wanted to reach and inspire a wider audience through multiple platforms and still have time for family and a balanced lifestyle. His next step was partnering with a restaurant group to open The Bucket list at Bondi Beach. Which from there, he went on to create and consult on numerous other venues.
Tom is currently writing his first cookbook and starting a new next chapter leveraging his wealth of creativity, experience, knowledge, and passion for inspiring others. He now works across a diverse portfolio of food & beverage brands, helping them tell their story through content creation developing recipes, styling, photography, and cooking demonstrations. He’s also the Head of food innovation for IKU Wholefoods.
When not in the kitchen Tom and his partner Cheyenne will be found soaking up the outdoors with their 3 beautiful children.
