Sofia Levin is a culinary travel journalist and presenter who celebrates diversity through food
Born and raised in Australia’s culinary capital, Melburnian Sofia Levin is a journalist and presenter who celebrates culture and connection through food. Driven by insatiable curiosity, you’re more likely to find her munching insects on the side of the road than following in the footsteps of Nigella.
For over fifteen years, Sofia has contributed her writing and reviews to esteemed publications such as Good Food, SBS Food, National Geographic Traveller, Lonely Planet, The Guardian, delicious., Gourmet Traveller, Broadsheet, Time Out and in-flight magazines. In 2020, she launched Seasoned Traveller, a website and newsletter dedicated to sharing lesser-known food stories from around the globe.
Sofia's infectious enthusiasm, adventurous spirit, and natural on-screen presence have seen her MC events, partner with tourism boards, moderate panels, judge food competitions, share restaurant reviews on radio, provide expert insights on television (from The Cook Up to My Market Kitchen), and even host her own customised food tours. It has also cultivated a fiercely loyal following on social media. With a career this sprawling, Sofia’s CV is just as diverse as her passport stamps.
Sofia's mission is to celebrate cultural diversity through food, fostering a more tolerant and delectable world in the process. With her #EatCuriously movement she encourages individuals to eat outside their comfort zones to better understand both themselves and others through the universal language of food.
In 2024, Sofia took her #EatCuriously message to the masses as a judge on MasterChef Australia: the nation’s favourite cooking show celebrating culture, creativity and cuisine. A natural in the role and beloved by Aussie audiences, Sofia was recognised with a nomination for the Silver Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent in 2025.
In her third year as a MasterChef Australia judge, Sofia steps up to the plate once again with an encyclopaedic knowledge of food and an insatiable desire to learn, eat and share.
Sofia is also a vocal ambassador for MND Victoria, fighting for MND research and awareness, fundraising, and even getting industry greats like Jamie Oliver on board to support the cause. Her latest 2026 fundraising dinner saw over $65,000 raised for the charity. Whether it’s mentoring contestants, campaigning for causes she’s passionate about, or eating a goat’s head, Sofia doesn’t do things by halves.
